Hyperpigmentation / Photofacial / IPL

Restore and maintain a youthful appearance

Keep you skin looking young while reversing the signs of sun damage, mottled pigmentation, rosacea, red spider veins or broken capillaries.

Natural. Non-invasive. No downtime.

IPL treatment is safe and reliable - so why not trust the leading innovator of light-based technology for your skin health?

Hyperpigmentation, which causes patches of skin to become darker than the surrounding skin, rosacea, which causes reddened skin and a rash, usually on the nose and cheeks; and broken capillaries, can all cause your skin to look aged and uneven. Fear not – Esana’s Med Spa in New Haven is proud to offer a cutting-edge solution to restore your beautiful skin. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) by Lumenis harnesses light-based therapy to reverse the signs of sun damage, mottled pigmentation, rosacea, and red spider veins, or broken capillaries. As a bonus, it can stimulate collagen production to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and large pores.

Who should get IPL treatment?

It works best if you have pale or light brown skin and want to lessen or get rid of:

  • Acne
  • Birthmarks
  • Stretch marks
  • Liver, age spots, brown spots
  • Broken blood vessels
  • Dark spots from hormonal changes
  • Discolored skin
  • Fine wrinkles
  • Freckles
  • Redness from rosacea
  • Scars
  • Spider veins
woman skin trouble. pimple, freckle, spot, wrinkle, saggy.

What can I expect from an IPL process?

To begin the process, the clinician spreads cold coupling gel (similar to the gel used with an ultrasound machine) on the treatment area. An intense visible light pulse is then delivered to target red or brown discoloration. Most people experience some warmth but little discomfort as the quick bursts of light is applied to the skin. The session usually lasts 15 – 30 minutes.

Immediately after the treatment, you will notice some redness, but this usually subsides within a few hours. You can apply makeup immediately and continue your normal day’s activities. There is no downtime. You will be advised to stay out of direct sun for a few days and use sunscreen.

The number of treatments and intensity of the light pulses is determined by your specific skin type and skin condition. For most conditions 2-4 sessions will provide dramatic improvement. Based on your response to the first treatment, the Lumenis® IPL allows your practitioner to customize subsequent ones so that imperfections from too much sun, aging, or genetics soon fade from your skin and your memory.

A consultation with one of our physicians will help determine if you are an ideal candidate for a IPL. Schedule an appointment today and see what Esana can do for you!
