Are your eyelids starting to look too heavy above your eyes? Have you been thinking whether you can improve that “tired” appearance.
People spend a great deal of time looking at our eyes. We speak and convey emotion while looking at each other’s eyes. For this reason, the eyelids are often the area where the effects of aging first become apparent. Eyelid surgery can help to reverse the signs of aging.
The Eyelid Surgery Procedure
(Telehealth Available – Click Here)
Eyelid surgery, or Blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure performed to improve the appearance of the eyelids, gives the eyes a more youthful look by removing excess skin and/or bulging fat from the upper or lower lids. If the sagging skin obstructs peripheral vision, Blepharoplasty can eliminate the obstruction.
Upper eyelid surgery or an upper blepharoplasty
Excess skin is removed from the upper lid through an incision hidden in the natural eyelid crease. Removal of the skin excess will result in a brighter appearance. Our goal is to restore a natural appearance and not the “surprised” look of an excessively tightened lid.
Lower eyelid surgery or a lower blepharoplasty
The lower Blepharoplasty procedure performed by our top Connecticut surgeons will help you improve puffiness and bags under your eyes by removing excess fat (and when indicated also some excess skin).
What makes me a good candidate for a blepharoplasty?
Many of our patients have fin wrinkles excessive skin on their eyelids that they want removed. Although the procedure is more common in patients over 40, occasionally younger individuals with hooded lids or prominent bags will benefit from this surgery. Blepharoplasty will give you positive results if you are a generally healthy person with a positive attitude and realistic expectations.
What should I expect after the surgery?
Swelling and bruising can be expected for a few days after surgery. Most people feel ready to go out in public or back to work in a week to ten days with a refreshed appearance that is still themselves, only better. You will need to avoid any strenuous activity for about 10 days and keep your head elevated for around a week. Scarring will be minimal.
