Keller funnel has now allowed silicone breast augmentations without the historically longer scars of the past.

How is Breast Augmentation performed?

There are several options for incision placement for breast augmentation, however an incision along the breast fold (inframammary fold) is favored for direct access to the pectoralis muscle and more precise creation of the pocket where the implant will sit. There is less risk of decreasing nipple sensation using this incision and it generally hides well under the breast.

The implants are placed over or under the pectoralis muscle depending on your particular anatomy and recreational activities. Many of our clients will also benefit from a subfascial (below the muscle fascia) placement which offers the benefits of both less visibility of the implant, lower capsular contracture, and easy recovery. The best approach will be determined between you and your surgeon.
For silicone implants, a Keller funnel is typically used by our surgeons to minimize the size of the incision.
